Agence France-Presse reported that Mikhail Razvozayev posted on the messaging app Telegram that “a military plane crashed into the sea”, but did not specify the reason.

Razvozayev wrote: “The pilot bailed out and was rescued 200 meters from the shore by personnel of the Seven Castle rescue unit. His life is not in danger.”

In footage circulated on social media, a plane is seen burning and falling in the sky. There are also photographs of pilots using parachutes to fall after ejecting.

Sevan Castle is located at the southern tip of the Crimean peninsula and is the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The war has been going on for more than two years, after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the region was frequently attacked by Ukraine during the Russia–Ukraine War.
