Li Zongrui, a wealthy young man from Taiwan, committed several counts of interfering with sexual autonomy. The Taiwan High Court ruled on December 25, 2018, that the execution should be scheduled for October 2018. Li applied to the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office to reschedule the execution, but the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office refused. Li Zongrui began looking for prostitutes in Taipei nightclubs in 2009. The High Court explained that if the prisoner believes the decision violates the law, he should seek relief through the extraordinary appeals process.
