Polish car crashes into crowd, 17 policemen injured: This is not a terrorist act

A car plowed into a crowd of people crossing a street in the Polish city of Szczecin today, injuring 17 people, including three minors, Polish authorities said, but said it was not an act of terrorism.

AFP reported that a Polish official told reporters: “Seventeen people were injured in the accident, including three minors, two of whom were seriously injured.”

“The criminal has been taken into custody,” the official said, without giving further details about the suspect.

Police spokesman PaweĊ‚ Pankau said the perpetrator was a 33-year-old Polish citizen, adding that “this was not a terrorist act.”

The speeding car plowed into pedestrians and then hit three other vehicles in the city of Stettin in north-western Poland, according to a preliminary investigation.
