National Voter Registration Day encourages Asians to register to vote

Today, September 19, is NationalVote RegistrationNational Voter Registration Day is also a non-partisan civic holiday. Since the first event in 2012, more than 5 million people have registered for the holiday.vote, The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) recognizes National Voter Registration Day and encourages all eligible Americans, particularly those in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities, to register to vote.

Congresswoman Judy Chu, chair of CAPAC, said, “Today, we are bringing awareness to a vital part of American democracy – the right to vote. Registering and participating in our nation’s elections is your civic duty. is an important way to do so, and I am pleased to see that the AANHPI community has become the fastest-growing electorate in our country. However, minority communities still face significant barriers to access to the ballot box, and We must continue to ensure that all Americans can continue to conveniently and safely participate in our democratic vote. I join CAPAC members in celebrating this day for all Americans to ensure that “They are registered to vote and their voices are heard in our democracy.”

CAPAC Whip Taiwanese Representative Ted Liu said, “Voting is a vital part of a healthy and vibrant democracy. National Voter Registration Day provides us with an ideal opportunity to highlight the importance of ensuring that all people of all ages and identities Vote for Americans of all ages.” Background plays an important role in creating a government that reflects their goals and meets their needs. To truly establish a government of the people, by the people and for the people, all eligible voters must have the opportunity to vote. CAPAC is a group of members of Congress of Asian and Pacific Islander backgrounds who have taken an active role in advocating and promoting issues related to the AAPI community. According to the United StatesCensusAccording to the bureau’s data, one in four Americans is not registered to vote or does not know how to register to vote. As a result, more than 3,500 organizations across the country participate in this holiday program, helping more than 250,000 people register or update their voter registration.
