Musk: Rumor that Tesla will stop using BYD batteries is false news

Musk: Rumor that Tesla will stop using BYD batteries is false news

korean media reportTesla(Tesla) will end cooperation with BYD in battery supply, Tesla CEOmusk(Elon Musk) and ChinaElectric CarDachang and battery maker BYD both denied that today.

The Korean Economic Daily reported on the 12th, citing industry sources, that Tesla had not asked BYD to supply spare batteries for some Model 3 models after the supply agreement expired earlier this year.

Musk tweeted today: “The media report is not true. The relationship between Tesla and BYD remains unchanged.”

BYD said in a statement to Reuters that the report “does not correspond to the actual situation.”

BYD executive vice president Lian Yubo told China Global Television Network in June last year that BYD was preparing to supply batteries to Tesla “soon”. Neither company has publicly disclosed any deal since then.
