Lebanese state media and Mayadin TV reported that two Mayadin TV journalists were insideisraelHe was killed in a targeted attack by Israeli forces while working near the border. Another person was affected and died. More than 50 journalists have been killed in the line of duty since the war began.
Reuters reported that Al Mayadeen TV station said the attack near the town of Tir Harfa, about 1.6 kilometers from the Lebanon-Israel border, was a deliberate attack on its journalists because of the channel’s stance of supportingPalestineAndiranRegional military alliance.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati also accused Israel in a statement and stressed that Israel is trying to silence the media due to this attack.
The Israeli military has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Violence has escalated along the Lebanese-Israeli border following the outbreak of war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic fundamentalist movement Hamas. Western countries worry that the United States and Iran will be dragged into a broader Middle East war.
This is the most serious conflict on the Lebanese-Israeli border since 2006. More than 70 fighters of the Lebanese Shia fundamentalist militia Hezbollah, 13 Lebanese civilians, 7 Israeli soldiers and 3 Israeli civilians have been killed.
Mayadin TV announced that the two dead were journalist Farah Omar and photojournalist Rabie al-Memari. Another person killed at the scene of the attack did not work for the network.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, more than 50 journalists have been killed in the line of duty since the war began, most of them in the Gaza Strip.
