Gas prices in Los Angeles are so expensive, near $6 per gallon, which is $2 higher than the national average price.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) reported on the 18th that the average price of gasoline in the Los Angeles area increased by 5 cents from the previous day and nearly 40 cents from a week earlier. By comparison, the national average price of gasoline is $3.88 per gallon. In other words, the Los Angeles area is $2 more expensive than the national average.

According to a Chinese in Arcadia, a World Gas Station in the city is located on Duarte Road near South Santa Anita Avenue. The selling price is relatively lower on weekdays. On the 18th, the price of regular gasoline was 5.59 yuan per gallon. “This is the current price. It’s the cheapest gas price I’ve seen here,” the Chinese said.

The main reason for high oil prices in the Los Angeles area is that oil prices are rising. The cost price of oil has increased by several yuan, to about 90 yuan per barrel, AAA said. However, AAA pointed out that although prices are currently high, gasoline prices may gradually decrease as autumn approaches.

The cost of oil has put pressure on gasoline prices, but a sharp decline in demand will keep oil prices from rising, AAA spokesman Andrew Gross said in a statement. As schools reopen, days become shorter and the weather becomes less pleasant, demand for gas is declining. Although gas prices have risen, they are still some way off the all-time highs of a year ago. The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline as of October 5, 2022 was 6.49 yuan.
