The French district prosecutor said on the 17th that a man was charged with murder after his 7-year-old son was found dead in the bathroom of his apartment. The body was covered with injuries and partially frozen.
Agence France-Presse reported that the boy’s body was found on the 14th in the southern city of Perpignan. District Attorney Jean-David Cavell told AFP the 28-year-old father was detained before trial.
The father is also accused of trying to kill his two daughters, aged 3 and 4.
Meanwhile, the boy’s uncle and grandmother, aged 33 and 61 respectively, were charged with failing to report a crime.
He was not taken on remand but kept under judicial surveillance.
Prosecutors said both girls were hospitalized and that physical examinations revealed “multiple marks on their bodies and faces.”
The boy’s body is to be examined on the 18th. Prosecutors said the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death were unclear.
