“They asked me to give a eulogy, sorry, I shouldn’t have said that,” she told CNN.
“Jimmy Carter and I have known each other a long time, and the day has finally come. But they found a way to keep him alive a little longer than they expected. They had a breakthrough.”
Biden possibly talking about Carter andcancerlong-term struggle. Carter announced the discovery of four cancerous lesions in 2015, whencancer celltransferred to the brain. After treatment, in December of the same year the doctors announced that she was free of any cancer cells.
In 2019, Carter underwent surgery to reduce pressure on his brain due to a series of health problems. Deteriorating health forced him to give up his decades-long tradition of teaching Sunday school at the Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
The Carter Center, a nonprofit organization founded by Carter and his wife, Rosalyn Carter, announced last month that Carter has decided to begin hospice care at her home in Georgia.
The Carter Center said at the time: “After several short-term hospitalizations, former President Carter today decided to spend the remainder of his time at home with his family and receive palliative care without medical intervention.
