Egyptian media reported today that 29 premature babies evacuated from Al-Shifa Hospital, the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital, have been safely returned to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
A medical source told AFP the children would be treated at El-Arish hospital, 45 kilometers west of Gaza, or flown to Ismailia or Cairo.
Initial reports said a total of 31 babies were moved from a western French hospital to another clinic in Gaza. It is unclear why only 29 children reached Egypt.
At the same time, the Gaza Health Ministry accused the Israeli army of airstrikes on an Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza, in which at least 12 people were killed.
