The shooting occurred at 4:38 pm on the 12th. At the time, the six victims were waiting for the subway on the northbound platform of the No. 4 train at Mount Eden station. According to officials, at least one person took out a weapon and started firing after the train entered the platform.
One of the victims, a 34-year-old man, was later pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. The remaining victims are a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man.
At a briefing Tuesday night, New York City Police Transit Commissioner Michael Kemper said the incident was “not a random shooting.” He said that before the shooting, two groups of teenagers had an altercation while riding the No. 4 train.
